MOLD AND MOISTURE ASSESSMENT
PROJECT BACKGROUND
bTech Environmental Consulting was retained to conduct a mold and moisture assessment for a large Chicago land hospital to determine the absence or presence of mold growth and elevated moisture in response to an unpleasant odor in the ICU.
THE CHALLENGE
The ICU was operational and partially occupied at the time of the assessment requiring bTech to conduct the assessment with the upmost discretion.
THE EXECUTION
bTech used thermal imagery and a Protimeter Moisture Meter and quickly detected elevated levels of moisture and associated mold growth in a bathroom cabinet. Using air sample data, bTech was able to determine and document that the air quality had not been impacted by airborne mold spores and provide a remediation protocol to the hospital detailing the remediation necessary and the precautionary containment methods to be utilized.
THE RESULT
The hospital’s experienced maintenance team was able to utilize bTech’s remediation protocol to conduct the minor remediation work in-house. bTech performed a Post Remediation Verification Assessment to verify and document that the remediation had been successfully completed.
