Mold and Moisture Assessment
bTech Environmental Consulting offers solutions to environmental issues including assessment of mold and moisture that may impact the health, usability and profitability of buildings.
Moisture problems can be caused by a variety of conditions, including improper construction, roof and plumbing leaks, condensation and excess humidity. Using thermal imaging technology, bTech’s environmental engineers and consultants perform quick and non-invasive mold and moisture assessments of building structures. This revealing thermal data is beneficial in determining the condition of the property and the extent of water damage that might not otherwise be visible.
bTech’s technicians are certified in microscopy and fungal spore Identification at the McCrones Research Institute. This unique approach and bTech’s innovative mobile laboratory system allows bTech to provide same day mold assessment reports and remediation protocols.
The Importance of a Mold Assessment
The first step to remedy a mold problem is to have a detailed mold assessment completed to identify the extent of the problem prior to any remediation.
bTech will conduct a mold assessment to determine:
- The cause and extent of the mold growth
- The presence of ongoing moisture sources
- Wet building materials which could promote additional mold growth
- The impact on the air quality in the affected area
- The impact on the air quality in other areas of the building
The data collected during a mold assessment provides the information needed for bTech to prepare a detailed Remediation Action Plan for you to provide to remediation contractors bidding for the work.
bTech's mold assessment includes:
- A visual inspection for mold growth and water damage
- Thermal imaging
- A moisture analysis of the building materials
- The collection of air samples and surface samples
- A detailed Mold Assessment Report with a Remediation Action Plan
The entire assessment including sample analysis can be performed at the project site using bTech's unique mobile laboratory system.
The Remediation Action Plan includes a remediation protocol which details the work that needs to be performed including installation of containment barriers to protect unaffected areas, removal of building materials and cleaning methods.
